Mobiles Above Rs.2000 To Become More Expensive

In the Budget it is proposed to increase the duty on mobiles to 6%. This will be effective on all mobiles priced above Rs.2000 from 1st April 2013.  Earlier the duty was 1%.

On this point the Finance Minister P Chidambaram sited that about 70 per cent of imported mobile phones and about 60 per cent of domestically manufactured mobile phones are priced at or below Rs 2,000.

Due to this all mobiles priced above Rs.2000 will cost more from 1st April 2013.

So if you are planning to buy a high end mobile make it as early as possible.
