Nokia 2 to Have a 4000mAh Battery and to Cost Just $99; Launch Imminent

HMD Global is slowly covering every price bracket possible. With the launch of Nokia 7, the company has a reliable smartphone in the $400 price barrier, and now, the company is rumoured to launch its cheapest smartphone- the Nokia 2 in the US for just $99. HMD’s cheapest Nokia smartphone till date is the Nokia 3, which retails close to $150 in the US and available at Rs. 9,499 in India.

With the Nokia 2, the company is aiming at first-time smartphone buyers, and at a price tag of $99, the device will be an exciting one to check out. This news was reported by Winfuture.de. As per the publication, the Nokia 2 will be first released in the US in black and white hues.

Also, the report revealed a few key specifications. In-line with the recent FCC listing, the Nokia 2 is confirmed to come with model number- TA-1035. Having said that, the Nokia 2 is already listed on a US e-commerce site for $99, hinting the launch as an imminent one.

As per the FCC listing, the Nokia 2 will come with dual-SIM functionality, much like other Nokia smartphones. The Nokia 2 will be backed by a massive 4000mAh battery, which is one of the highlights of the smartphone.

Also, the smartphone was spotted on Geekbench benchmark site, which revealed the processor details of the smartphone. The Nokia 2 is expected to feature a 5-inch HD display and could be powered by the entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset, which is a successor to Snapdragon 210 SoC. The Snapdragon 212 SoC supports Full HD displays, but HMD is sticking to HD display though. The chipset is likely to be accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. There might be an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera in the Nokia 2.

These are the details available on the Noki 2 as of now, but the official launch date of the device is still unknown. HMD is also rumoured to launch a true flagship smartphone- the Nokia 9 with an 18:9 display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, and Zeiss powered dual camera setup on front and back. However, the launch of the Nokia 9 might happen sometime in early 2018.
